Emily J. Mick, M.Ed, LPC, LPC-S

"I have background and training working with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of mental health needs. Most commonly, I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or life stressors affecting mental health. I have worked with Autism Spectrum and ADHD for many years both in children and adults, focusing on skills and tools for success. I also work often with members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, am a member of World Professional Association for Transgender Health, Inc. (WPATH), and ensure WPATH Standards of Care.  Additionally, I am an LPC Supervisor and strive to help train more ethical and effective mental health professionals into the field of counseling.  Those interested in LPC Candidate Supervision can contact me at our main number.

I also work with those who identify as women dealing with depression, anxiety, using a trademarked concept 'Bitches Have Boundaries' to unpack socialized and interpersonal belief systems resulting in lack of healthy boundaries and/or codependent behaviors, and developing new replacement beliefs and skills to have better interpersonal relationships and self-worth when asserting healthy boundaries."

Emily accepts insurance and private pay clients.  She is paneled with BCBS, HealthChoice, Cigna, Healthcare Highways, WebTPA, Apostrophe, & Kempton Group.  She can also provide you with invoices after private pay for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance using your Out of Network benefits.

"Golden Explorations: Adventure Therapy for Adults
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering therapy for adults and couples through in-office sessions or adventure-based experiences, including hiking, walking, art, and other activities tailored to your leisure interests. My adventure therapy is designed to be accessible for neurodivergent and disabled clients. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life
transitions, relationship challenges, and stress. My work with couples is grounded in the Gottman Method, and I offer skills-based sessions, experiential groups, and retreats to strengthen connection and communication. For individuals, I integrate IFS, CBT, and Schema Therapy in a client-centered, humanistic approach, helping you shift thoughts, feelings, and patterns for meaningful change.

As a neurodivergent therapist who has been on both sides of the couch, I create a warm, authentic space for my clients to be authentically themselves, quirks, humor and all. I am pursuing a Ph.D. and certification in Recreational Therapy as well as a certification as a Clinical Adventure Therapist to expand accessible, evidence-based
experiential therapy."

Your mental health counseling may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance. You are responsible for verifying your mental health (sometimes called behavioral health) benefits for counseling, the status of your deductible, and any limitations to your plan benefits.  You are also responsible for any balance due for services, including situations in which you have not met your insurance deductible.

Please carefully check your coverage by asking the following questions

:

  • Do I have outpatient mental health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How does meeting my deductible influence my mental health coverage and how much I will pay?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is my specific provider with Upstream Counseling Services LLC an in-network provider for my insurance plan?
